While in the USA Last week I freely took showers, watered the chickens and flushed the toilet.
This week would you allow me to comment on what life is like on the foreign field since we’ve passed through a circumstance that affected us greatly.
While I was in the USA Ana Trejo Nemer and Cristi Nemer had no water in our apartment in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas because the city was working on the public water system. I returned here Tuesday and there was still no water.
So what should you do after 11 days with no running water in the house?
Thank God for the privilege of being able to serve Him on the foreign field, fill up water canisters using cheap bottled water and take a shower at someone else’s house when you find out they have water.
- “If it’s yellow, let it mellow. If it’s brown, flush it down!”
- “When you run out of other resources the last resort is to use cheap purified water to flush the toilet.”
Fortunately, today we have water again and I can write this message without the risk of seeming like a complainer.
I’m constantly reminded,
“When you pass through a problem, always remember there are many other people passing through circumstances that are more difficult than yours”
As we went through the hardship this past week I begin to think of the many missionaries around the World who endure conditions a lot worse than we have endured this past week. I’ve visited many of our Globe missionaries and can tell you right now that the conditions they live in are not very comfortable.
After serving on the foreign field for over 30 years I can also tell you that one of the biggest misconceptions we could make is to expect the Country we are serving in to be just like the USA.
The reality is most Countries are not as comfortable as North America.
Today, can I encourage you to pray, not just for us, but for other missionaries and people around the world who endure unpleasant conditions.
These warriors who have answered the call to “go” to foreign lands need you, the sender. They don’t just depend on your financial contributions, they also need your prayers and encouragement.
You can find many of Globe International’s missionaries at www.GlobeIntl.org
Would you take the time to reach out to one of them or someone who may be passing through a difficult situation today by offering them word or prayer of encouragement.
Feel free to comment below and let me know how I can serve or encourage you.
